I went to my doctor on Fri. and had bloodwork done. I found out I'm anemic. We haven't gotten the test results back yet. Is there any advice you could give me about how to deal with it or anything?I just found out I'm anemic, any advice?
There are lots of reasons to be anemic. Your physician can help figure out the reason and treat the specific cause.
The most common cause, however, is iron deficiency, especially in women with heavy periods. If this sounds like you, consider taking a vitamin with an iron supplement.
Good luck and take care of yourself
If the test results aren't back then how do you know you are anemic? Wait for the results to come back and then the doc will probably prescribe iron supplements for you. For now be sure your mulitvitamin is one that contains iron. Eat healthy and wait for your results.
If you don't have the labs back yet how do you know what your red blood count is?
Anemia is treated with iron supplements, iron rich foods. If you are severely depleted you can get a transfusion of packed red cells, did they say you need that?
You will receive the proper advise when the blood work comes back in the mean time check out Health A to Z, or webmd.com
being anemic usually means a lack of iron in your blood, in which case you may feel colder or somtimes feel faint . you coulld try iron tablets ,usually 1 a day is the dose you can just about get them anywere (herbalists chemists, local stores ect.) its almost never usually anything serious.Just like taking an aspirin for an ache, so dont worry.HOPE I HELPED
