I have been prescribed campral 333mg 2 tabs 3 x's a day for my drinking. is this a lot of this medication?
If you doubt you doctor, get a new one. I'm sure it is a lot less than you were drinking, Good luck on your sobriety. I found the following:
Recommended dosage for Campral
ADULTS
------------------------------...
The usual starting dose is two tablets (each tablet contains 333 milligrams) taken three times a day, for a total of six tablets a day. Your doctor may lower the dose as needed.
People with moderate kidney disease take half the regular dose—one tablet three times a day.
This is a lot of medication. The side effects seem to be almost as bad as the alcohol problem.
The alcohol problem is as much a mental problem as a physical problem. If you are nutrient deficient, you will have craving problems and this includes alcohol to mask the nutrient problem. If you feel good, you will be less inclined to drink. If you solve the mental issues and fulfill the nutrient deficiency, your alcohol problem will be easy to control.
This medication will create a lot of free radicals in the body that can create long term problems. My suggestion is to attack the mental issues that are usually a result of years of neglecting personal issues and improve your nutrition. Go to this web site (www.healthline.cc) and purchase the Trio of Coral complex, probiotic, & greens mix --- all in capsule form. Take lots of this everyday and also the GOLD 360. I would take a teaspoon of this 3x per day. Try this for a week and see if it helps before committing to the other legal drug pushers solutions.
good luck
