I have an iron level of 3 is that bad? I also was told i had low cortisol? I have been feeling drained?
I'd need more specifics. "3" isn't a typical measurement. If your hemoglobin is 3, then you should be immediately hospitalized.
Don't follow too much specific advice here. Your doctor will prescribe iron supplements and the dosage if you need them. Low cortisol is usually worrisome. Let your doctor give the advice. Best of luck.
go to your pharmacy and get a mega iron supplement and eat heaps of green leafy vegetables
An iron level of 3 is low. That would be why you are feeling drained. You can help this by taking a good iron supplement. Cortisol is a hormone in your adrenal glands. It is used kind of like a "jumpstart" for your system when you get very sick or undergo MAJOR physical stress. One analogy I like to use is that you wouldn't want to start your car and rev the engine without oil in it and you wouldn't want to face serious body stress without cortisol. Same damage.
Hello...have you had a recent traumatic bloodloss? The low cortisol would be more worrying to me then the iron. Your body will sometimes be strained to low levels when ill but there also could be other causes that should be ruled out. Low cortisol will make you extremely fatigued, especially after physical or emotional stress. You would probably have a real hard time getting up and going in the morning and would have heavy salt/and or sugar cravings. Ask to see an endocrinologist to rule out other things like pituitary or adrenal problems. If this has been going on for awhile it could point to these problems.
